Here at Soil Hill Quarries we are experts at making and supplying premium quality puddling clay, Shale Clays, White Clays and Engineering Clays. Our products are used in many areas from flood defences to the lining of waterways, ponds, reservoirs as well as brick manufacture and many more use cases.

Based in Bradford, Yorkshire, the area our quarry is based in is well known for it's high quality clays and we are no exception, we have a focus on producing top quality clay at great prices. From Shale Clay to White Clay, Puddling Clay and Engineering Clays we offer many different types of clay and all are the same high quality.

Originally created in the late 1940s, Soil Hil Quarries has been operating in the area for over 70 years. Created by Donald Greenwood, the company has been passed down generations and now belongs to the current owner, Warren Greenwood. From then till now the focus has always been on producing the highest quality clays and offering great customer service.

Puddling is a process which lines any channel or waterway with puddling clay, this creates a watertight, strong clay base. Puddling clay as a long and rich history, originally it was used on canal systems throughout Britain and further afield, today it is still used for the same purpose as well as being used for reservoirs and as core for earth filled dams.

With permission on the quarry lasting until 2042 we are able to keep producing fantastic quality clay and ensure continuity for our clients who manufacture bricks and other products with our clay.
